School fundraising for library expansion

AN ASHFORD school is hoping local businesses will help them raise £1,000 in donations to expand the school library.

Spelthorne Infants and Nursery School, in Chertsey Road, is working with Usborne Books at Home, a division of Usborne Publishers, to encourage businesses across Staines and Ashford to pledge a book to the school library by way of a small donation.


If the school manages to achieve its target sum, then Usborne will donate a bonus of £600 of additional books for the children, who will get to choose their desired titles from Usborne's catalogue.

Local scheme coordinator for Usborne, Debbie O'Connor, said: "What we're looking for, is any businesses, or individuals, to give enough to buy a couple of books. But it would be nice if we could get a couple of major donors."
