Manhunt after prisoner goes on run
A prolific criminal from Ashford is on the run from police after failing to return to prison.
Thomas Barlow, 26, of Beards Road, was convicted of offences including burglary, aggravated vehicle taking, criminal damage, driving while disqualified and two counts of obstructing a police officer in 2005 and jailed for four years.
Barlow was released from Wandsworth Prison on parole in March but an arrest warrant was issued last week after he failed to obey a recall to prison.
This was issued when he breached his early release licence conditions to attend compulsory probation meetings and fully engage with probation and Surrey Police's prolific and persistent offenders unit.
Officers have been hunting for Barlow but have been unable to find him and are now appealing to the public for information in a bid to track him down.
Police say he has links to a number of locations throughout Spelthorne, including Ashford, Staines, Stanwell and Sunbury and believe he could be staying in any of these areas.
Detective Sergeant Jon Hillard, from the Staines Police prolific and persistent offenders unit, said: "It is in the best interests of the community to have him apprehended as soon as possible."
Although police do not consider Barlow to be dangerous they have warned anyone who sees him not to approach him and to contact them immediately.
Barlow is described as white, of medium build and has short brown hair. He has a tattoo of a series of dots on his left hand.
Anyone who has seen him or has any information on his whereabouts should call Surrey Police on 0845 125 2222 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
