Thugs walked down two Ashford roads on Monday evening smashing up cars with For Sale posts they had taken from front gardens.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the criminal damage attacks in Marlborough Road and Chesterfield Road at about 11pm.

The offenders are believed to have removed several For Sale signposts from front gardens used them first to smash the windscreen of a white Volkswagen Caravall in Marlborough Road, before walking along the road to damage a further six vehicles and turning into Chesterfield Road where they caused damage to another three.

Police were speaking to householders in the road yesterday (Tuesday) and dropped about 70 leaflets through doors, appealing for information and giving crime prevention advice. Officers have also stepped up patrols in the area.

Anyone who witnessed the vandalism or with any information should contact Surrey Police on 0845 125 2222.
