Arsonists torch car

Posted by Ed Saunt on Dec 13, 08 08:30 AM in Crime

Arsonists torched a car in Maxwell Road, Ashford, on Friday December 12.

Sunbury firefighters spent nearly an hour dousing the blazing blue Fiat Punto after being called by neighbours at about 2.15am.

Resident Ruth Reason said she was just going to sleep when she heard an "almighty bang".

She said: "I thought it was my son falling out of bed and I literally jumped up. Then I saw the flames out of the window and they were extremely fierce - my husband thought the van parked behind it was going to go up as well.

"We have no idea who the car belonged to, we have never seen it round here before and we didn't see anyone."

Police confirmed the incident was suspicious and want to talk to witnesses. Anyone with information should call them 0845 125 2222.
