Welcome to your local community website...

Meet your bobby

Posted by Adam Courtney on Jan 20, 09 03:40 PM in Local Authority

Beat bobbies in Spelthorne will be targeting a street in the borough every week in a bid to get to know as many residents as possible.

Every week officers from each of Spelthorne's 10 safer neighbourhood teams will be visiting a street in their area while out on the beat and calling at homes to introduce themselves, leave their contact details and speak to residents about any issues.

Under the Street-a-Week initiative, residents will also be able to get information on the benefits of joining or setting up a Neighbourhood Watch scheme, as well as crime prevention advice if there has been a particular issue in their area.

Neighbourhood inspector Sarah Greenhalgh said: "Our communities can help to improve our neighbourhoods by telling us what their local issues are but we know that our residents lead busy lives and that due to work, family and leisure commitments, not everyone can attend our regular panel meetings and surgeries.

"The Street-a-Week initiative is another way for us to speak with and listen to our local community to make sure we're tackling the issues that matter people."

We'd like to hear from you.
