He appeared before Staines magistrates on February 4 where he admitted to the driving offences and was sentenced to 36 days imprisonment.

In relation to the conspiracy charge, he was remanded in custody to appear before Kingston Crown Court on February 17.

Last week, Melissa May Kimber, 29, of St Michael's Road, Ashford, was also charged with conspiracy to steal. She was also remanded in custody to appear before Kingston Crown Court on February 10.

The charges follow an incident outside the Nationwide Bank in Church Road, Ashford, on January 27 where £4,000 in cash was stolen from a woman who had just withdrawn the money from the bank.

Minutes later the handbag containing the cash was stolen from the victim's car after she returned to her vehicle.
