Drawn-TOGETHER: Working the 3rd Dimension
ALSO... PLEASE COMMENT.... I don't have many comments here and I get upset! ;.(
This morning (Sunday 2am to be exact), I decided after copious amounts of coffee to see if I could make my graphics and illustrations 3D.
I know how to make 3d photo's in Lenticular, Anaglyph and Interleave LC Shutter... but never tried actually converting my graphics to the 3rd dimension.... well... after a few coffee moments I figured it out and thought I would share.
Here are some of my latest illustrations in 3D.
Click an image to see it BIGGER and right click to save it to your PC, Dr Who ones are also Desktops.
MATT SMITH IN THE TARDIS: This first one is a Doctor Who Illustration I did for SFX Magazine, seeing as it has a good composition of background, foreground and middle...ermmm..ground, I thought it would lend itself perfectly to 3D and make a great desktop also. The FULL sized graphic is at 1024x768 so it is fine for most peoples desktops and looks great with your icons over it:) You can find the normal versions and many more in my Deviant Art gallery by clicking here.
THE TARDIS: Pretty much the same graphic as the one above, apart from the fact that this one doesn't have Matt Smith and K9 in the picture. I played around with the field of depth a little to make it a little more striking. The colour is taken out of these kind of 3D images as otherwise it goes a funny yellow or orange and looks bad.... plus I love Black & White styles. This is also a Desktop use graphic at 1024x768.
BIG BROTHER: This group of people were my cartoon versions of some of the contestant/housemates in the Big Brother house a couple of years back when I was doing my Big Brother BBTOONS illustration website. To see more of the BBTOONS graphics, pop to my main folio here.
THE REPORTERS: I was asked to cartoon 5 of the reporters for 'THIS' newspaper a short while ago and used the heads as my FIRST test on creating 3D illustrations. The FULL graphic in normal colours and all the 'behind the scenes' stuff for it is in 'THIS' blog here.
STAINES BY THE SEA: In January this year I was asked to illustrate the twinning of Staines with Mauritius by some of my local Councillors here in the Spelthorne area for their e-Mag. The one they used depicted the Cllr' Colin Rough in a deckchair in the middle on Staines High Street, the alternate one was never used... so I thought I would make use of it in 3D here. You can see the other Illustrations looking normal here.
Finally.... I will leave on a 3D photo I took of my Son 'Ethan' when he was 13 days old.

Luckily I still have red/cyan glasses from my daughter's Hannah Montana DVD. :)
These are very awesome! Saved the Doctor Who ones for my desktop. Amazing work, thanks for sharing!
Oh, very cool! I especially love the Doctor Who related ones. Fantastic work!
Oh wow, these are great! I especially love The TARDIS and Matt Smith In The TARDIS. I'll be saving both of them for my desktop.
Great work!
Will be doing the David Tennant ones in 3d tomorrow hopefully and will consider making a fair few of my back catalogue stuff 3d also if the mood takes me and it looks good enough. As for Hannah Montanna, not the best 3D I have seen alas. Polar Express 3D is VERY good though!
I love 3D pictures and those look great. I haven't actually got any glasses but now I want to go and look for some so I can see them properly!
Actually, I do have glasses, I just realised, so I'll be seeing them very soon! :)
Lovely work!
Very nice. I have always loved 3D. I am glad to see it is making a comeback. We saw Coraline and the 3D added to the fun... the $2.50 extra for glasses rental per person not so much. I loved the TARDIS pictures. I will check back for David Tennant pictures. Very well done.
I have been enjoying reading your blog, you have an interesting and humorous way of looking at the world and its refreshing, the images you post are superb, you are one very talented guy!
As for the 3D pics, how fantastic, the tardis pics I too will be saving for my desktop, thankyou so much for sharing your talent with us and good luck with the job hunting, not that I think you need it, with your drawing and writing skills its only a matter of time until you are snapped up!
I love the 3D! Luckily, even though there bad, I still have those "Hanna Montana" 3D glasses.
Anyway, it looks really neat. I wonder what program you used for this? Hopefully theres enough comments to find out!
