Date set for Christmas fete

The date has been set for Ashford on the Map's Christmas market.

It will be held in Church Road's lower ground floor car park and will see stalls, concerts, craft displays, and a Santa's grotto on Wednesday December 2.

A primary school will be holding a Christmas fair in November.

On Friday September 13, Echelford Primary School, in Park Road, will be holding a Christmas Craft and Gift fair for the 21st year running.

The evening starts at 6.30pm which will see more than 40 different stalls.
Entry is 50p.

An Ashford fraudster has been jailed for 18 months for forging her birth certificate to try and stay in the country.

Zimbabwean national Mavu Chinyani, 38, of London Road, Ashford, was sentenced to 18 months in jail on Thursday September 17 on the charge of fraud by false representation at Croydon Crown Court, after denying the crime.

A woman was detained under the mental health act on Monday September 21.

Police were called to reports of a woman smashing bottles in Feltham Road near the Londis off-licence and sent three vehicles to detain her.

She was taken to St Peter's Hospital to check her condition and later detained under the act.

A collection of emergency services and local authority bodies met on Wednesday September 16 to enforce the law.

The latest Safer Stronger Spelthorne Partnership Action Day, which is a collection of the police, fire service, Environment Agency, the DVLA, councillors and council officers, took place in and around Ashford.

A terminally ill cancer patient is holding a charity coffee morning on Friday September 25 to get to know his neighbours.

Peter Heward, 55, of Burleigh Gardens, Ashford, was diagnosed with incurable bone cancer two years ago, and doctors say he only has three and a half years to live unless he undertakes radical new surgery.

An action day was held on Saturday September 5 to clear up a messy area in Ashford.

More than 30 residents of Beards Road cleared up rubbish, fly tipping, and removed graffiti, which was run by housing provider A2Dominion.

The company have been putting on a number of events for the children of the area in the summer holidays, and this event was the last of the season.

Tessa Bird, A2Dominion's community involvement co-ordinator, said: "The day was a great way to say 'well done' to all the young people involved in the different activities over the past few weeks."

Following the clean up the residents had a street party with a barbecue to mark the final celebration.

Charity runners had a fright on Sunday September 13 as a man exposed his penis to them in Sunbury.

A 41-year-old woman reported it to the police after the runners were taking part in the Thames River Relay event, which took place from Virginia Water to Kingston.

Radio star to appear in September

A radio reverend will be attending an evening of hymns in September

Rev Canon Roger Royle, who hosted the BBC Radio 2 Sunday half hour for many years, will be attending Harvest Songs of Praise on Sunday September 20.

The event will be held at The Salvation Army, in Woodthorpe Road, Ashford, and will see a number of choirs sing some songs.

The event starts at 5.30pm.

dtdad.jpgWell now the BBTOONS adventure has concluded and I will be going back to concentrating on getting full employment doing graphics and illustrations again.

I am also going to look into what I need to do to become an art teacher.... this is one of my ideas that has made my other half smile as she thought I should go into teaching years ago. I just have to decide what age groups I would like to teach for and what mediums of art I actually can do, ideally digital graphics obviously... so will go well with the kids computer lessons.
