A Spelthorne councillor has donated £200 to Ashford Breast Cancer Support to help them print information leaflets.

Ashford Common councillor George Trussler gave the money from his better neighbourhood grant scheme, a £750 budget for members to spend on community projects in their ward.

The cancer support group was founded more than 12-years-ago and offers guidance for people who have or are undergoing breast cancer treatment in the area, and the leaflets, to be printed in 2010, give information on their services.

Mr Trussler said: "I'm very pleased to have been able to use part of my grant to help the charity. The group provides invaluable support for people who have been diagnosed with breast cancer and their families."

Pat Morrison, chairperson of the support group, said: "The group is very grateful to Cllr Trussler, as it will enable us to ensure that our leaflet for 2010 is printed. The leaflet will be distributed to all breast cancer patients, as well as doctors' surgeries throughout Spelthorne and neighbouring areas."
