Surrey county councillor Carol Coleman is holding an extended two-hour monthly Saturday surgery to update residents on the Ashford Area Improvement Scheme.

Spelthorne borough council set aside £300,000 to spend on the shopping towns of Ashford, Sunbury and Shepperton, matched by Surrey County Council. Consultation was carried out at the Ashford on the Map summer event in 2009, residents' group meetings and Ashford Have Your Say events.

Spelthorne councillor George Trussler, Ashford Common, a member of the town's working group, will join Ms Coleman at Ashford Library, Church Road, from 10am to noon on Saturday, November 6.

Ms Coleman said: "I will have information and details for residents to hear about the plans for the scheme. Come along and find out the changes to your town."

A CHARITY shop is asking readers "to bounce about ideas" to raise money for a new van after thieves stole their old one.

Well-wishers have lent Charity at Home in Ashford a delivery van since their "battered old" Ford Transit was swiped six weeks ago.
