A multi-million pound vision set to save the Ashford campus of Brooklands College has been announced by the interim principal.

After only 12 days in the job, Bill Grady has laid out his plans for securing the college for future generations after months of uncertainty following the withdrawal of funding by the Learning Skills Council (LSC).

as Mr Grady announced Ashford campus would not close and A-levels will run at Weybridge.

Young children at an Ashford primary school are preparing to send shoe boxes filled with goods around the world.

The pupils of Spelthorne Infant and Nursery School, in Chertsey Road, have collected nearly 70 boxes containing toys, books, sweets, clothing, and hygiene items and will be sending them to children living in Africa, central Asia, and eastern Europe.

Thomas Knyvett College held a GSCE awards evening on Thursday November 26.

Past pupils from last year came back to the Stanwell Road school after the college wide 59% pass rate for grades between A* and C in 2008.

A Christmas tree festival is taking place at St Matthews Church on Saturday 28.

The 11th annual festival, which will start at 10am but go on until December 6, will feature 45 trees displayed by various shops and organisations.

The event, in Chuch Road, will be opened by pupils from Echelford School and in the evening the Mayor of Spelthorne Caroline Spencer will attend a concert by the Spelthorne Young Voices at 7pm.

Schoolchildren from all over the borough visited Spelthorne Council's offices on Friday November 13.

Pupils from ten primary schools, including Saxon Primary School, in Briar Road, Shepperton, and Our Lady of the Rosary, in Park Avenue, Staines, visited as part of the Junior Citizenship event, which saw each school deliver a presentation on what sporting activities they would like to see provided in the borough.

On Thursday November 12 the three workers of the school, in Feltham Hill Road, Ashford, were given a silver star paperweight and certificate by Commercial Services in Guildford.

A decision to keep Thomas Kynvett College open was welcomed by councillors at a meeting on Monday October 12.

Peter John Wilkinson, from Surrey County Council issued a report to the Spelthorne Local Committee meeting which detailed the possibility of Spelthorne schools being the first in the county to receive government investment.

A primary school will be holding a Christmas fair in November.

On Friday September 13, Echelford Primary School, in Park Road, will be holding a Christmas Craft and Gift fair for the 21st year running.

The evening starts at 6.30pm which will see more than 40 different stalls.
Entry is 50p.

Strode's College are holding Adult Education Enrolment Evening on Tuesday September, 8 from 6pm until 8.30pm.
